Thainstone Cattle Sale

A strong trade was met at Thainstone last week, when Aberdeen & Northern
marts sold 1040 store cattle and 12 young calves.
Bullocks averaged 160.2p and sold to 195.8p per kg with heifers levelling
at 156.9p, peaking at 240p per kg and £1200 for a 500kg British Blue
from Shiel, Muir of Fowlis.
In the WN Lindsay sponsored show and sale of store cattle and weaned calves,
the overall champion was a 544kg 19-month old, home-bred British Blue X Limousin
heifer from GP Smart & Son, Shiel, Muir of Fowlis, which realised £1500
to W Ritchie, Tamala, Whitecairns.
Reserve champion was a 476kg 12-month old British Blue steer from LJ George,
Parrock, Rothiemay, which sold for £860 to the judge, George Cumming,
Fontainbleu, Newburgh.
