British Blue sired calf makes £390

Brothers Shaun and Peter Sowray, who trade as A Sowray & Son at Bowes Green Farm, Bishop Thornton, were victorious yet again at the June rearing calf show at Skipton Auction Mart on Monday 20th June.

The Sowrays, regular winners of the calf championship, struck once more with their first prize British Blue bull calf, a son of the Cogent sire Edenvalley Bojangles, who was also responsible for their March title winner and is renowned for producing long, shapely calves.

Their latest victor headed both class and show prices at £390 and returned to its roots when joining Derek Taylor, of Burton Leonard, one of eight acquisitions he made on the day.

These included the second prize and reserve champion British Blue bull calf from John Rushton, Elslack, at £355, and the Sowrays’ first and second prize British Blue heifer calves at £318 and £308 respectively, along with their second prize Limousin heifer calf at £318.
