Dungannon SaleSaturday 28th October 2006 BELGIAN BLUES TOP at 4,400gns WITH STRONG EXPORT DEMAND The ring was packed as Auctioneer, Trevor Wyllie, opened the autumn consignment of pedigree British Belgian Blue cattle, at Dungannon Farmers Mart, on Saturday 28th October 2006. Judge, Gordon Buchannan, Innishmore, Lisbellaw, Co Fermanagh put up “Lukeroyal Workman ET” out of Lukeroyal Tiara, by Twyning Ash Troy, as his Male and Supreme Overall Champion. This October 2004 born bull, qualifying as a superior bull in the BQI scheme, was bid to 3,400 gns. Standing alongside him, as Reserve Male Champion and Reserve Overall Champion was “Chatham Arthur,” from the Morrison family. Out of Chatham Teresa by Railway View Hector, this February 2005 bull, topped the sale at 4,400gns and went south of the border, to Frank McEnaney, Corrichmachross, Co. Monaghan. Norman Hammond sold his 2nd prize winner, “Annaghone Adam” a May 2005 born bull, out of Annaghone Sanctity and sired by Chatham United 2. He was also heading to a new stable, south of the border, with Tom Moore, Portlaoise, Co Laois, being knocked down at 3,400 gns. The third leading priced bull, being snapped up by John Kilculln, Sheen, Co Sligo, was “Woodview Warren ET @ 3,200 gns, from Andrew Craig. Andrew McKelveys’ “Bessy Bell Whisper ET” out of Bessy Bell Tanya by Arlequin des Peupliers, found a new home with Albert Willis, Derrylin, Co. Fermanagh, making a very respectable 2,700 gns. In total 11 bulls were sold, which was over a 90% clearance, with 6 of those being exported to the Republic of Ireland. This is a first for the British Blue Cattle Society; being the first recorded animals going for export and certainly provided a very good ‘boost’ to this autumn sale at Dungannon. 1st in its class and Overall Female Champion, was “Knockagh Whisper ET” a November born, black heifer out of Woodview Olive and by Ridge Dean Mahogany, found a new home with Simon Loughery at Limavady for 2,700 gns.
