Perth Sale Tuesday 5th February 2002 Belgian Blue Bulls top 4200 gns Twice A Breed Record For Perth The Black Moor Herd of John T Mawle, Maulden, Bedfordshire, scooped Supreme Champion and joint top price at this weeks Perth bull sales, with a 25 month old bull, Blackmoor Rufus by Inexes de la Croix de Mer. Judge, Jim Barber, Astbury Cheshire, put up Leverhulme Ramrod, sired by, British bred, Ridge Dean Mahogany as Reserve Champion. A smart, October 99 bull from Leverhulme Farms, Wirral. First in its class was another entry from the same stable, the 2 year old Leverhulme Seducer. Bidding was brisk from the onset with strong demand for the animals forward. Second in its class, Kensco Stanley ET, the first home-bred bull from new breeders Kenneth Hailstones and Scott Milligan, Kilbirnie, Ayshire, by Totem de Chocquenee was knocked down for second joint top price at 4200gns. This buoyant trade was a joy to experience, after the events of the last year, and confirmed the Belgian Blue as a strong and growing force in Beef production in Scotland commented Society secretary, John Fleming.
