‘WILDE ABOUT BLUES – PART 5’

The names Michele Wilde and Ridge Dean are synonymous with the very best of British Blue cattle and pedigree breeders worldwide know this. The offering for the Wilde About Blues Part 5 production sale certainly did not disappoint as breeders and enthusiasts filled the ringside on Friday 11th June 2010 at Carlisle.

Ridge Dean Dibbley

Leading the sale at 11,000gns was Ridge Dean Dibbley a black and white 21 month heifer and one of the last ET daughters from the famous cow Ridge Dean Navette who is a daughter of the great brood cow Ridge Dean Jessie. Dibbley is a well muscled balanced daughter of the legend Belgium sire Visconti de St Fontaine. She was purchased by Berkshire breeder A Phillips to john his Drift herd.

Ridge Dean Ermie

The next price was 5,000gns for Ridge Dean Ermie a daughter to the great show sire Ballygrange Alex and out of Ridge Dean Windsor. Ermie carries alot of presence and caught the eye of JN & LP Dunn to join their Highridge Blue herd based at Okehampton, Devon.

Ridge Dean Christa

A maternal sister of Ermie sold for 4,200gns. Ridge Dean Christa an October 2007 born in calf heifer of Empire D’Ochain sold with CYI of +13. She was knocked down to Slakes Farms of Appleby, Cumbria.

Ridge Dean Evelyn

Following at 4,100gns was an 8 month old smart dark blue heifer Ridge Dean Evelyn. Bred from a fourth generation of natural calving lines, Evelyn is a daughter of Heros du Peroy and out of Ridge Dean Valentine a daughter of the noted Jessie cow. She now joins the Tanat herd for WR & WW Jones of Oswestry.

Two full sisters sold for 4,000gns each and both were purchased by newcomer to the breed I Dean of Eaglesfield, Lockerbie. First to reach the 4,000gn mark was Ridge Dean Dazzle, a mainly black September 2008 born daughter of Ballygrange Alex and out of a Jessie bred mother Ridge Dean Valentine. She carries a CYI of +10.

Ridge Dean Feefee

Also selling for the same price tag was her full sister, Ridge Dean Feefee, a February 2010 born baby heifer calf selling with her recipient Limousin cross mother. This stylish young lady, full of character, also carried a CYI of +10.

Averages – 6 served heifers £3220.00, 13 maiden heifers £3238.85, 7 ET calves suckling recipient dams £2940.00.
